‘The Batman’ (2022) – Well-Crafted Detective Thriller A Change for Superhero Movies

Matt Reeves' The Batman is a moody neo-noir detective story, with Robert Pattinson's iteration of The Dark Knight bringing an emotional nuance to the character. As the cryptic Riddler seeks to root out corruption in Gotham City by killing those who perpetrate it, the vigilante confronts his identity and purpose in fighting for his city. Grounded but fantastical in approaching the Batman mythos, the film is easily one of the most well-crafted superhero films ever.
